There are several invitation options available to the shower hostesses today. You can call your guests a two to three weeks before the shower to verbally invite them to your shower. A hand written shower invitation and personalized stationery can be a very sweet touch. And finally, you can have your invitations printed by an On-line or local invitation printing company or opt to create your own. If you are mailing out invitations to your shower guests, you will want to send them out about three to four weeks in advance, allowing plenty of time for your guests to R.S.V.P. and to supply your caterer with your guest totals. Ideas for Do-It-Yourself Invitations From creating each invitation by hand to creating a file of the wording and having your invitations printed at the local printers, if you are at all creative, do-it-yourself invitations could be an economical solution for your invitations. Shop your local hobby and craft stores for invitation supplies. Be sure to check out the specialty papers, translucent vellums, ribbons, bows, calligraphy pens, stickers, glitter, wax seal sets, stamping and embossing supplies. The scrapbooking isle always has a wealth of information and great ideas. Get out your digital camera and do an indoor or outdoor photo shoot of the bride and groom. These photos can be used to add to the bridal shower invitations, a photo shower cake and even the wedding invitations. Save these photos and add all the photos from the shower for a keepsake bridal shower scrapbook or photo album for the bride. If you are throwing a shower that has a specific theme, incorporate your theme into the bridal shower invitations. Your invitations should also reflect the type of shower you are throwing; elegant, contemporary, modern, casual or traditional. Many stores offer pre-designed bridal shower invitations kits that you will be able to print on your home deskjet or laser jet printer. All kits will include the necessary envelopes and even respond cards, which can double as matching thank you notes if you have extra stock. Some kits even offer specialized word processing software with your invitations which usually offer additional font choices, otherwise any word processing software will do the trick. Printing on your home printer will only give you flat print, if you are looking for the raised lettering effect you see with thermography printing, you may want to contact your local printer to see if they offer raised letter printing or your On-line stationer to find out what specs they require to be able to print your invitations. For example, if you were to mail your files to us, we would require that you save your file as a TIFF or EPS file with a minimum of 600 DPI resolution (higher resolution if you are printing any fine lines, designs or smaller lettering), black and white line art for text files. Be sure to ask if you are able to supply the invitation card stock or if you are required to use theirs and what their minimum run quantity is.
