Do-it-Yourself Bridal Shower Invitation Ideas

Kitchen Shower Invitation     Pick out something you can write on, send through the mail or are able to hand deliver; solid colored pot holders, towels, washcloths, small cutting board, large spatula. Using puffy paint, fabric paint or colored permanent markers, write out the details of your shower on any kitchen item and mail it out for a very unique and unforgettable invitation. For example, search your local department stores to locate a larger plastic kitchen magnet, possibly one with the kitchen measurement conversions, flip it over and print out your shower details. Use ribbon or raffia to wrap the magnet, your guest will be sure to see your invitation when they "untie" their magnet. Great for showers with a kitchen theme.

Elegant Tea Party Invitation     Planning an afternoon tea party? Consider sending out small tins of gourmet teas and tea balls with a hand written linen note card with the shower details and tied to the tin. Create hand-made invitations using vellum, colored papers, tea cups and tea pot stickers, and doilies for a lacey effect. Slide in a single teabag for an added touch.

It's a Puzzle - Invitation     There are several On-line stores that offer this service or with a little effort and a computer you can create an invitation puzzle. You will need a photo of the happy couple in digital format. If you have the photo, you can scan it in. If you are scanning the photo, be sure you have your photo or scanning software set so the image scans in at least 5" x 7". If you want to make your invitations smaller, you will be able to scale them down without compromising your image quality. Depending on your knowledge, you can use any photo editing software to decrease the opacity of your photo (opacity is the degree that your photo is transparent or see-through) and add your invitation text and print the invitation. If you prefer, you can print just the photo and hand pen your text on the back of your invitation. Glue each photo to foam core board or white card board. Once you have your photo and text completed and the glue has had the opportunity to dry, cut your invitation into irregular puzzle-like pieces. Your invitation should fit into a smaller white jewelry sized box. Box up your invitation, tie with ribbon package for shipping and mail out to your guests. The puzzle invitation is a sure hit if you have the extra time and tools needed to tackle it.

Linen Closet     If you are having a Linen Bridal Shower, consider using pillow cases as your invitation. You can use a standards pillow case or if you sew, using scraps, you can sew together small pillow cases with enough room for your invitation text. Another idea would be to use a linen or cloth napkin and some fabric paint to design your invitation.

Cookie Invites     Bake up your favorite cookies or an assortment of cookies. If you are running short on time, buy your cookies pre-baked. You can use cake frosting to write out your invitation on large cookies. Another idea is to purchase or bake smaller, bite-sized cookies, place them in a tin, box or solid colored gift bag that has your invitation verse text penned on the front or cover. If using a box or bag, use a dainty cloth napkin, wash cloth, or any pretty cloth pieces to wrap your cookies in to help keep them cushioned during shipping so they arrive at your guests home in one piece.

Sweet Invite    Similar to the cookie invitations,  your sweet invite is going to be boxed or bagged with your favorite chocolate or candies. You could use Hershey Kisses in any assortment, boxed or bagged with your invitation included and either mailed or hand delivered to each guest. Filled with chocolates or candies, your bridal shower invitation will be a sweet sensation.

Rain or Shine     Perfect for the outside bridal shower party, this invitation is sure to get your guests attention. Browse your local odd lots, over stocks, and outlet shops for small, compact fabric or paper umbrellas. Print your invitation text on each umbrella using fabric paint, allow to dry and either hand deliver or mail out in cardboard tubes to your guests. If you are sending out fabric umbrellas and would like for your guests to be able to reuse them later, you could tie a hand written or printed invitation card folded around the umbrella handle. If you tuck your invitation inside the umbrella, be sure to place a note on the package or in some other way so your guest will know to look for the invitation.

Around-the-Clock and Time-of-Day Invitations     A great way to inform your guests of your around-the-clock or time-of-day bridal shower. Check out your local dollar store for small, travel sized alarm clocks, kids toy clocks, watches, clock statues, or anything else that would work and have a time theme. You will need to pickup some number stickers for this one as you will need to indicate an assigned time to your guest along with a quick note indicating that they should try to tailor their shower gift to their assigned time. If you have some computer experience, you could possibly import a photo of a clock into your invitation, arrange your invitation text, and move the hands as you individually print each invitation.

Sandy Shores     To coordinate with your beach themed bridal shower, you have numerous options on how to personalize beach and tropical themed invitations. If you have the time to create your own, you could start with some sky blue card stock paper, possibly some translucent vellum paper and blue ribbon. Print your invitations out on the translucent vellum paper, leaving about 2-3 inches of blank space at the bottom, attach it to your blue card stock with your ribbon, spray the bottom half of the invitation with spray adhesive and sprinkle some beach sand on the lower half of the invitation (both can usually be found in any hobby or craft store), allow to dry and mail out to your guests. Another quick idea, pick up some "beach in a bottle" favors and using raffia tie your invitation to the bottle.
