Choosing a Location for your Bridal Shower:

In selecting your shower location, you will want to keep in mind the number of guests you are expecting, type and theme of party, time of year and your planned budget.

By far, the most popular location to hold wedding showers is in a home. The home can be one of the hostesses homes or the bride's mother, a sister, or relative's home.

Locations for your event are limited only to your imagination. For the budget conscience hostess, check out local parks, church halls, country clubs and club meeting rooms to see if they might have anything available. If you are looking to book a restaurant for a larger shower guest list, be sure to ask if they offer any discounts if you book the room on a particular day or date or at a particular time. Many banquet halls give discounts if you book your wedding on a Friday or other weekday. Some restaurants offer similar discounts for booking your event on special dates and times.

Office bridal shower parties are becoming increasingly popular. Many offices have a kitchen facility available along with a conference or meeting room that can be decorated for the bridal shower party. An early morning breakfast shower may be a great idea for a bridal shower party hosted at the office. Another idea would be a potluck, buffet style luncheon.

You will need to keep in mind the amount of guests on your guest list. Your guest list will help to determine to some extent your budget as well as your location. Larger guest lists are going to need a bit more space. Often times a banquet hall at a restaurant or hotel, or a meeting room at one of your local clubs is required to seat your larger guest lists. Showers held at a restaurant or hall are likely going to be a catered, buffet or sit-down style of service and tends to need a larger budget as these can get a bit pricey.

For wedding showers held in summer, you will have the opportunity to expand your choice of locations. Options to look at are going to include local parks, beaches and home parties for larger groups as you can rent a tent to setup outside.

If you are planning an outside shower, be sure to have either a rain date planned or a backup plan incase of inclimate weather. If you have 75 guests arriving and the storm clouds are rolling in, do you have a backup plan in place to house and serve 75 guests so they are not "soaked" at your shower.

If planning your party at one of the local parks, be sure to contact the local park authority to check any park rules, fire ordinances, and parking arrangements for your guests. Some parks do not allow alcoholic beverages or fires, be sure to check so you do not have any surprises on the day of your event.

Another great resource is your local historical society. If you are planning an afternoon tea party, you may want to get in touch with your local historical society. Often times there are historical buildings that are available to the public to rent. Just imagine hosting your tea party in a historic Victorian mansion or old English cottage. The possibilities are endless, it just takes a little leg work to explore all your options and put together an incredible bridal shower for your guests to enjoy.
