Supplies you may need for the gift opening: scissors, letter opener, pen and paper, paper plate Part of your planning process should include arranging helpers for the gift opening. At minimum, you will need to assign someone to help you keep track of each gift and whom the gift came from. In addition, you can assign someone to help "feed" the gifts to the bride. Your gift "feeder" can even get the bride started by cutting ribbons and opening the card envelopes. How about some tradition? Assign someone to create the Ribbon and Bows Bridal Bouquet. It has become a tradition to create a bouquet for your bride from the bows and ribbons given to her with her gifts. The bride can use the completed bouquet as the stand-in flowers at the wedding rehearsal. You can purchase pre-made bases for your bouquet or use a paper plate as your base. Cut an "X" in the center of the paper plate, draw your ribbons through the slits and arrange the bows in the center with the stick on bows around the outer edges. For a little fun, assign someone to secretly jot down phrases the bride says as she opens her gifts. After the bride has opened all her gifts, have her read the quotes out loud. You may find you have a blushing bride. Roll that Camera. You will want to assign someone to take pictures and possibly even another person to use a camcorder to record the shower if there is not a professional photographer and or videographer already hired. Be sure to check with your bride, if it is not a surprise party, as some photographers and videographers offer wedding packages that include the bridal shower and rehearsal dinner in the package price. Disposable cameras are a great way to get your guests involved. Scatter cameras through out the room, several to a table. At the beginning of the shower, invite your guests to take pictures of the bridal shower party. You can provide a basket to collect the cameras on the way out of the party room. Remind your guests at the end of the party to drop any cameras into the basket on their way home. A great tip - be sure to stick an address label to each camera, just incase one goes home with someone, that way your guest knows where to return the camera to. |
